For the first time, we welcome a return guest to Powerboat Talk, circle boat racing legend, Duff Daily. Daily was my first “real” interview when I talked to him last November, for an article in Speedboat Magazine. Daily had just won his class, for the first time ever, at the Parker Enduro with his son Dustin as his co-driver.

Since our first meeting, Daily and I have stayed in touch, talking periodically about his racing past and the current racing season. After attending the most recent race with the Southern California Speedboat Club at Lake Ming in Bakersfield, California, and with the Enduro just around the corner, I thought it would be a good time to sit down with Daily and record a conversation.

Besides Daily’s K-boat racing exploits for the year, we also discussed his recent nomination to the Motorsports Hall of Fame, the unique new engine that he purchased and installed in his son’s Biesemeyer circle boat and got an update on the restoration of a replica of his father’s F-Service vintage race boat.

Daily, a retired Miami fireman, recently turned 70 years old and has been racing for over 50 years.
