Slug Hefner and his Dirty Duck Racing team made history at the 2024 Lake of the Ozarks Shootout (LOTO), surpassing the 200 mph milestone for the first time.
A Record-Breaking Performance
After narrowly missing the mark in 2023, Hefner’s 438 Skater—equipped with twin-turbocharged 557-cubic-inch engines—underwent a crucial upgrade. Engine builder Carson Brummett designed a custom nitrous system, giving the boat the extra power it needed to push the limits.
The result? An astonishing 202 mph top speed, setting a new benchmark as:
- The fastest Skater in the world
- The highest top speed for a twin-engine boat in LOTO history
